What are your pre flop stats 5/3?

lol ... yeah 97suited is a top 6% hand good one

Have you ever the heard the saying "the cards don't matter"

Or read in Doyles book that he can beat any game if always had position.

This is exactly what they are talking about. It could have been 2-7o for all Crunny cared he was trying to take the pot down on the flop against a player who is folding if he doesn't hit the flop.

Lol, first off good fold OP.

Secondly, Mingdu, OP is raising to win the DEAD money on the table. I am guessing OP really didn't fold top pair 1000 times as stated in the post. Also, like I said he is not looking to hit top pair with the hand either. When he raises from the CO he isn't playing 7,9 suited anymore, he is repping a bigger hand. You need to realize that you just don't have to play the cards you have, but can rep other cards as well. He c-bets repping his big hand, and gets raised so he has to fold, end of story. It makes no difference that his c-bets aren't working at the moment..it could be as simple as villains are hitting the flops hard, or he is playing on a looser table. In GENERAL, i.e. over 53% of the time for me, c-bets take this pot down.

LOL, no. You don't just pitch the hand when you flop a pair. You have to get good are recognizing when your 1-pair is worthy of a showdown, and when it isn't. You won't be right all the time, but that's not necesary.

BB calls $8.00

nh ... he deserved to lose his stack ... you fold if he raises here?

I understand the point of making plays ... not sure I do it with 97suited. Also understand that it was played well ... hero gave himself a couple of chances to drag the pot ... I like that

Ming...in another thread you just said the following in response to a hand where MP1 opened with a raise...

"I've raised up J8s in his spot pre and I'm a nit ..."

nope ... MTTs ... realized I didn't know how to play poker

So all of this is good for me. I'm dead serious with my responses though, not just baiting.

I see how the hand is played, saw that there is value here sometimes, hero gave himself a chance to take it down.

My mistake is thinking that everyone raises this 100% of the time ... this is just one hand ...

Hero started his post with a complaint that he was folding top pair all night ... that tells me that he is doing this too often. If I'm at his table I see it and exploit it. Thus my advice to fold pre until he has his bearings again.

If i hit top pair with this hand, I play it as if I missed the flop any ways.

This seems like a big leak.

If youre gonna take the type 2 respond to something you might as well put some effort in2 it, 3 word answers are useless. This hand will not stand up well 2 aggression, and unless I know the villian is a complete donk im getting away from it, very quickly.

I don't disagree with you that this hand stands up poorly to aggression. I just don't agree that 1-pair has NO value here. That's clearly wrong.

URRRRRRRRRRGH

YOU DON'T RAISE A LIMPER WITH 97 SUITED FOR ANY SPECIFIC REASON OTHER THAN THAT ITS PROFITABLE TO DO SO WITH ALMOST ANY TWO CARDS, AND 97S FLOPS REASONABLY WELL.

I didnt say this hand has no value, obviously youre beating a flush daw, I said I play this hand the same way I would a missed flop, If I get to a cheap showdown great but if im shown any type of aggresion after a cont bet by me, im letting it go
