working in government in canada you start at 55k in most jobs, even for like [censored] junior analysist getting coffee. The cap is a lot lower than most fields obviously, but still super sweet just coming out of college and earning 60k working 35 hours a week with 3+ weeks of vacation.
I know someone in my university cohort working in a job where her actual job, I'm not joking, is to update the job descriptions of people in government. So she emails people asking them what their jobs are like and updates it, and that's all she does all day...and she gets paid as much as I do working in the private sector at a very competitive salary.
