Just imagine how much smarter you would have been if you'd thought of it a month ago.

Link for those that will inevitably not get it.

Favorite in portfolio: COP (Conoco Philips) Cash cow with huge earnings and recent $15B buyback (w/ low P/E) will be great for stock.

Going to buy: MET (Metlife). Limited downside due to book value of assets, strong earnings growth and aging population leading to large growth in retirement services

I did buy it over a month ago with the little bit of money I had at the time. Just wasn't able to get more money there in time

Would also like to add JNJ.

BBBB: Blackboard Inc. is a online learning platform that the uni. I attended and many others use. Kids hate but teachers love it. They just started moving into the high school sector and I expect teachers will love it just as much there. I have talked to teachers who rant and rave how much easier blackboard makes their lifes' and we all know how lazy teachers can be. Its a very peter lynch approach but its going up nearly 60% since I bought it 4 months ago. I'm thinking about buying a couple more shares pretty soon.

i LOVED blackboard & i went to a top 25 MBA program in the midwest. we changed from our proprietary system after my first year. BB is way way way better & everybody loved it.

Barron

EDIT: just noticed "uni" so i take it you're from europe or likely went to uni there. even more reason to love this thing if true

Can someone post some idea that isnt wildly speculative with 30+ p/e multiples? this is investing not pure gambooling

[/ QUOTE ]
I think 30 is a pretty low cutoff to start branding things as wild speculation.

Sure, I don't know. I don't think there's anything really notable about a company with a 70 p/e. It doesn't fit into the model of investments that some people prefer, but some companies are growing quickly and deserve higher premiums to their earnings. I don't think that's good or bad, it's just the way it is. there's investments at all different risk levels. Someone that buys muni bonds might think buying an s&p index fund is crazy, to each his own.

I'm liking BBBB as well. However, I'm not a fan of negative earnings.

THe January '08 option with a strike of 45 is priced at $3.60. May use that as a low stakes gamble imstead of actually buying the stock (it's a speculative stock in a shakey market).
