[/ QUOTE ] sideburns = paius im assuming...this goes back to the romans...the romans would shave their faces up past their ear and jews decided that to be different than the romans that they would not cut hair above the bone below your temple...therefore they started growing the "sideburns" out...chassidik jews do not shave ever in their lives...which comes out to the really long white beard is the image of a rabbi friday night and saturday are the sabbath...what we call shabbat or shabbos (depending if one is an ashkenaz jew of a sefardic jew) and the sabbath it is the day of rest (G-d created the world in 6 days and on the 7th day he rested) and a jew cannot use any electricity or anything that is considered "work" in the torah...and starting a car = ignition = lighting a fire = work...very screwy in a sense but thats the connection |
