Donkey told me I was supposed to fold because talking meant strength, but I said I was supposed to call because something indefinite like "something like that" meant he was uncomfortable and weak.

I told him I would let the forum decide who was right.

Death Donkey, you are right. I should've folded.

[/ QUOTE ]

So then this could have been a reverse tell b/c donkey knows that you know how to read tells so maybe he's trying to act weak to tell you he's strong when he's really quite weak. This is precisely what I was doing but Clark was too naive and called me down with ace high, which was of course good

We've been living in the same city for 18 months now and playing the same limits. wtf?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm sure we have unless you play exclusively at Bellagio, in which case I've only been there playing about 6x in that timeframe.

well that would explain it. I've been to the wynn a dozen or more times, but consider the Bell the place to play 30-60. Hope to run into you soon, though.

Of course it is. It's the place to play limit hold'em, period. I just don't like playing there.

[ QUOTE ]
Normally, a quick, glib answer means weak. However, in a good player, a non-exact somewhat cryptic answer can often be the opposite. "Something like that" can mean a pair matching one of the cards on the board.

[/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't even have to be a good player. Mid-limit poker is full of people who are capable of throwing money around and talking smack without batting an eye, good hand or bad. In a lot of cases, their people skills are much better than their card skills.
