boringly standard.

Yeah. If you think villain is aggro postflop, the flop check-behind is incredibly bad news. You can bet-call, check-call and hope he is being dumb with KQ (or AK), but you're totally screwed here often enough that I don't want to put in more than 3 bets.

I think you are reading way too much into 42 hands especially at 1/2.

I'm using this and not paying any attention to the stats:

He's obviously aggressive preflop and quite aggressive postflop.

Granted, I don't know OP's experience with "obvious" aggression, but when an otherwise aggressive player checks behind after capping, you're usually in a lot of trouble.

I feel like I've discussed this type of situation before. This is one of those spots where aggression plays right into villain's trap. If the bait is too tempting for you to ignore, then that's something that you have to deal with.

If you 3-bet, he's folding most of his strange bluffing hands, but he's capping his monsters. You might get lucky and he might cap a strong losing hand, but otherwise you're inviting him to take your money.

PS - If you've seen Miles'(?) quads checking hand, I would have bet/3-bet the turn and then called down (against an unknown aggressive). The turn card is the right card for AK to accidentally give too much action. I do think reads are an important consideration when trying to assess villain's hand strength.

At 3/6 full I would do take OP's line against an unknown. Against a villain who knows to cbet there is basically no other reason they ever do this.

"It's an unknown, so I make no attempt to interpret villain's actions" is annoying to me.

babar, you know I normally have much respect for your posts but please answer the question I asked and try to use reasoning for your actions other than "I HAS A SET"

What I was getting at is that for the hands I've played with him, he's been doing a lot of raising/3-betting preflop and basically no limping/cold calling. He has been agro and it's been hard to overlook. However, he hasn't been showing down a lot of hands either from taking down pots with c-bets/second barrels or giving up on them after getting raised. Postflop, I've seen him bet/call some flops, but nearly every time it's his action on the big bet streets, he's either checking, betting/raising, or folding. He's not doing a lot of calling.

He seems pretty LAGgish to me for full ring, but call it what you want. Without seeing hardly any of his hands make it to showdown, he may just be a TAG, potentially even a weak/tight TAG who is just on a rush.

how much does 5 orbits of full ring mean to you guys?

i don't assume i'm WA/WB with third set, here, unless i know the other player pretty well.
