Re: Ask Daliman about casino comps.
[ QUOTE ]
1) What's the weirdest casino bonus you've gotten? 2) What is your expected hourly rate if you don't vary your bets or do any card counting if you get good comps? [/ QUOTE ] 1. I haven't really gotten any "weird" comps per se, however, I get alot of invites to freeroll tournaments from the main casino I stay at, TI. riverboatking apparently is also in their system for at least the same promos I get, although we have never met. I guess closest to weird would be tix to Zumanity for myself and Raptor. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2. If you learn proper blackjack basic strategy, you should be able to cut the casino edge down to anywhere from .6 to .19% depending on the rules of the game www.wizardofodds.com has a wonderful resource for figuring the edge for about any blackjack game you could think of here. . If we use .2 as a baseline actual edge against you, and $100 per hand, you are effectively getting $48 an hour in comps for an expected cost to you of $8, so $40 per hour. Extrapolation from there is realtively eay. I personally average around $120 an hour in comps alone, and I'm guessing another $60-100 an hour in my own edge vs the game, possibly more. |

Re: Ask Daliman about casino comps.
[ QUOTE ]
daliman - do you make more in your card counting endeavors than you do playing poker? if not, why do you do it - it's so freaking boring. [/ QUOTE ] I make more playing poker, well, online at least. Live poker kinda annoys me, and since poker is my job, and I am usually in Vegas to have a good time, I don't play a lot of poker. To even approach my online earn live, I'd have to play a far bigger game live than I am comfortable playing. I actually like playing BJ, but I'm not obsessive about it at all. I pretty much play enough to make sure my comps are handled, then I'm done. I'm pretty much a nit about booking wins in any live gambling endeavor, and if I'm up solidly for a session, I will often quit early, (true in poker too, which likely adversely affects my earn). Also, I ONLY play 1 or 2 decks games, and since most 1 deck LV games are now that 6-5 on blackjack abomination ( which raises the house edge 1.39%!), it's strictly double deck for me in LV. 6 deck shoes are too boring, and the edge situations don't come up often enough for me, not to mention you have to spread higher to get the same edge as a 2 deck game with decent rules. The other reason is, IT'S VEGAS, you're supposed to gamble! I swear, every time I come to LV, I mentally thank each and every roulette, slots, keno and craps player for making LV as beatable a town for me as it is. |

whats the best casino for casino war [/ QUOTE ] Any casino where you go to war on ties is going to have a 2.88% edge against you. As far as I know, there is no strategy whatsover to the game, so I'd imagine your total betting handle is multiplied vs .0288 for theoretical earn, and from there, your going to be best off at casinos that cater to locals or a downtown casino, as they have to do more to get/keep customers. At one point in time ( and it may still be the case) Terrible's casino gave a 5% cash rebate on losses from $500-999, and 10% over $1000, so that, combined with the fact that they likely give 40% in comps and have cheap rooms, may be the best bang for your Casino War buck. |

i love everything about bellagio but playing black chips there seems to get you an orange juice and a slice of toast. on the contrary playing black chip at places like the imperial palace seems to easily get you multiple free nights. but i have little desire to stay in those places. so where is the happy medium of niceish hotel/casino that comps generously? thanks. [/ QUOTE ] In terms of place you might actually want to stay, try the newer Station Casinos (Green Valley and Red Rock). They're modern and will give you much more value in comps for your action than MGM ever will...I've heard the Palms is pretty good too. |

Re: Ask Daliman about casino comps.
[ QUOTE ]
Dali, How much do I need to wager at the Wynn for them to charter a jet for me? How would you rate the suites at Palms v. Mandalay v. Wynn v. Bellagio? Any besides those that you think are better? [/ QUOTE ] Since I believe you live in SoCal, I'm guess a scant 25k/hand for 4 hours a day could cover it, but that's a bit outside my realm of knowledge. Anyone who can afford to even actually consider it would likely be better off getting a jet of their own, as they have zero chance of getting away with bet spreading over 10k/hand. Now, a good counter could flat-bet some single and double-deck games with good rules and have a slight edge, but wouldn't be able to play near long enough to have that edge avail itself before he is 86'd. I'm not an expert on rooms at all, partly because up to now I haven;t stayed at a lot of different places, and partly because I really don't care a heck of a lot about it. I would imagine at the very least, room comps are going to be easiest to come by at The Palms, as the Maloof brothers haven't lost their desire to appeal to locals, and didn't have to pay those prime strip property land prices. P.S. There is a very good chance you are one of the people that knows more about comps than I do. If so, I'd appreciate it if you'd add your knowedge to this thread and not use it to point out my gaps in knowledge, of which there are many. |
