Limping 88 is not mixing it up. I have never been in a hand with an aggressive opp and been agonized by the thought of "he can't have 88, he didn't raise pf"

the preflop limp is fine here (a raise is okay too).

$5 at least on the turn, and I break out into a grin when I get that river shove, and call that river all day.

You should raise pre flop!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I realize that this might have been what doomed me.

[/ QUOTE ]No- this did not doom you. Raising 88 here is a matter of style and debated among many solid players. As it played out, not raising here only made it more difficult to get all the chips in the middle when you hit your monster.

You're probably paying him off here, but most of the time you just call when you are readless.

What was your reasoning in raising the river bet? Did you think it was a blocking bet or or did you think it was a weak attempt at a value bet?

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought it was a blocking bet.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you thought that it was a blocking bet, then you did right, but you should have called the shove.

He is 1 off the button with a single limper. Always raise here... There is no debate.. It SHOULD be done. Bet way more on the turn, like 6. Unless your going to pretend that card scared you, then you check. If you check you can only call the .25 cause you dont know where he is. If you play it more agressively its an easy stack off.

"Price" here not necessarily being a stack that I lost, but bets/raises that I wasted and the pot that I might have been good for.

Or . . .?

What good does limping a strong hand from late position while multitabling do? You have no read on the hand, you have little chance of taking the pot with an easy c-bet, and your not gonna get paid what you should when you hit hands. Its stupid, unless your against a known super aggressive player, but he has no reads. What if op limped KK and you could easily get away from the pre?? If he limped somthing like 108s or k10s he might fold it, or your gonna get it in ahead whe he pushes his 2 pair. Please explain your or
