It's been stated that the TD/Harrahs etc. have no involvement what-so-ever in the chop, it's all done by the players to avoid any possible legal repercussions.

Chopping is standard at most large tourney's. The WPT does not allow it though. Which ticks off a lot of players, due to increasing blinds and antes making them million dollar crapshoots.
