He will only want to go to a team with a chance to win it all.

Who's equal value for Kobe?

Garnett -- maybe
Duncan -- nope...he's 31 years old. And never leaves S.A.

[/ QUOTE ]

ha. Duncan pwns.

The Lakers aren't going to get equal value. The best they can hope for is probably 75 cents to the dollar, and picking up some draft picks.

Kobe has a no trade clause, so no way he goes to somewhere like Indy for Jermaine. He'd be in the exact same situation in a smaller market, with his ego it's not gonna happen. The only players I can see where one side doesn't get totally raped are Pho, Dal, and Chi

-I really liked Hollinger's Pho situation...Marion, Barbosa, and picks for Kobe
-Chi has the talent to at least make a decent trade, but it will be tough since they are intent on sticking with Deng
-Dallas could make some kind of Terry+Howard trade, but it's worse than what Pho and Chi could offer and I don't really see Cuban doing it

This is scary. I expect to hear something like:

"Breaking news coming out of Los Angeles. The Lakers have traded Kobe Bryant to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Garnett, Randy Foye, Ricky Davis, Rashad McCants, their first-round pick in the upcoming draft and $10,000,000."

ha.. NEVER going to happen. Same division + trading for Marion is risky because you'd need to resign him in a year.

I think people are severly overestimating Kobes value as a player. As a commodity, he is extremely valuable in terms of money, but I dont think he can help a ton of teams win right away. And if they dont win right away, he tears the team apart.
