I've always thought he was very good/honorable/generous with friends but then again, i can understand how some would see him as a pest. If he asked to buy a % of you and you told him to go [censored] himself he'd probably think it was funny and that you were messing around back.

That's all fine. I just report the facts and the dynamics as I perceive them. I don't have any particular need to hate him, and he gets by in the world, so I'm sure he has friends.

I don't think it's appropriate at all--in jest or for real--to approach someone in the middle of a crucial stage of a tournament and distract them for your own amusement or profit. It's presumptuous and annoying, worse so if he can't effectively "convey the sarcasm." He definitely came off sounding serious and fairly obnoxious during the interaction. And, fwiw, I really do think he was serious--he wanted Kevin to take a moment out of his day, calculate his equity, and sell Mark 1%. That was my read.

Before Ansky gets on this thread to tell us what a great guy Mark Vos is, I'd like to report some more specific anecdotal evidence of Major Vos Douchiness.

Late in the 1K rebuy (middle of day 2), Mark comes over from the rail and starts schmoozing with Kevin "Bleu" Peterson, who is a really easygoing, mellow guy. They seem friendly but not like "best friends" or anything.

After a little while, Mark says something like, "Hey mate, sell me 1% of your action." Kevin politely demurs, saying, "Um, nah, like, I kinda...don't...really...want to...I sorta like having all pieces of myself..."

Vos is insistent, "Come on man: Figure out your equity and sell me one percent." Then he scurries off.

Mark walks away and we all discuss what a jerk he is for interacting with a player in the game that way, etc. I tell Kevin, "Man, I woulda told that guy to get the f*ck out of my face after the 'equity' request." We all had a laugh.

Anyway, Mark comes less than two minutes later and resumes pestering Kevin for the percent. I couldn't believe it. This time Kevin is more curt about it and just says, "No" more or less. Mark immediately responds, "Well, then, I'm not rooting for you anymore. Nope, I can't root for you to win anymore."

CLEAR THE MOTHERF***ING RAIL!!!

Cliff notes: Mark Voss is a huge douchebag who thinks he's entitled to walk around the tournament area harassing acquaintances for percentages, and will attempt to extort said percentage by threatening to root against them if they don't acquiesce.
