I've heard there's a monastery in upstate NY and a concentration camp in Omaha where your kids will be kept safe from the wicked outside world. Other than that, gg life.

By far the most important influence in your kid's education is you. By far the most important factor is his nature. Schools, for the most part, are what you make of them, and education is something you give yourself.

As for the best place for combining poker, life, and child rearing, it's San Diego county.

[/ QUOTE ]i picked seattle for my family, but san diego has better poker.
i would never make my kid live in LV, LA, or TB. these don't rank up there with america's top communities. i'm being way too delicate there.

Sir I live around Boston and I just got back from a Vegas trip. Believe me, neither you nor your son want to be there. If you want a balance between poker and good place to raise kids I suggest Indiana, Michigan or Arizona. Parts of Pennsylvania are in driving distance of AC.

There is also Connecticut and Rhode Island but I assume that you already have considered them.

But I too do not understand why OP has limited her choices to LV and TB. Seems strange.

My read on this strange situation:

No mention of job concerns for her + single mother + LV or Tampa =

STRIPPER!

How's that for a stereotype

How about Denver? Great weather, mountains for hiking and skiing, cost of living is good. We have poker in Blackhawk which is 45 minutes from Denver. Good NL tournaments.

Phoenix has lots of poker rooms, but a $150 max bet. And lots of nice areas to live in a variety of financial ranges. Vegas is 5 hours away.

LA is not nearly as bad as posters have said. As long as you dont mind a commute to the casinos, then all should be well. Stay away from the LA city School System. There is a State website that posts School District Test Scores. Find the better districts before you settle down in a particular area. You dont have to live in Beverly Hills for a good school, just do your homework.

Plenty of nice communities about 15 minutes South and East away from Hawaiian Gardens.
For the Bike/Commerce, look at Burbank, Glendale Pasadena and other San Gabriel Valley communities. I live in the Santa Clarita Valley, very good schools, just far away from the Casinos.

Traffic is not bad, if you drive in the few off hours (10.30 - 2.30) to get to Bike/Commerce or HP/Hustler. Just know the alternate routes, and its always good to know someone you can call from the car with internet service to find routes
