Re: Trop in Atlantic City
I started a post regarding the Trop a few months ago where I ripped the place, and said I'd never go back. Well, I went back about a month ago. Here's my take now...
PROS: Games/limits that other AC casinos don't spread 7.50/15 HE, 4/8 HE, 3/6 O8, 5/10 7CS (besides Taj). Poker card swiped at the table. Good poker room rate for the hotel. Wait times for seats/games are usually short. Cleaner chips than Taj. Weaker players/more fish than Borg & Taj CONS: Lighting sucks, still kinda dark. Stupid food carts are constantly in the way. Slow waitresses, Natty Light only free beer. No autoshufflers in the tables. Tournament structures are not very good. Lots of nitty locals (who doesn't have them though) All in all, I still kinda like it because I think the 4/8 HE & 5/10 7CS games are pretty easy. The 5/10 7CS game is MUCH better than the Taj's, & the 4/8 game is better than any 3/6 (or Taj's 5/10 HE) game in AC. |

[/ QUOTE ] I was gonna move up to the 4/8 at the Trop for the first time this Saturday night. When you say better, you do mean loose/passive? How many to most flops? And how many other competitive players should I expect in the game? I've only played 2/4 until now, so that's what I'm familiar with. |

[/ QUOTE ] It's basically the same as 2/4 except that people actually know the rules of poker. Six players to a flop usually, very little raising. I wouldn't worry about the quality of players unless you see someone who looks like a 2+2 member. |

Re: Trop in Atlantic City
Make sure you sign up for the Trop Poker Club card. You cannot play any tournaments w/o it and they frown upon you using the Diamond Club card when they come around to swipe your card for comp dollars while sitting at the table.

Bring a hoodie or jacket/several layers. It was freezing in the poker room Memorial Day weekend. I haven't been back since but I would assume it is still just as cold.

I hate 2/4 limit at the Trop....why do people get mad if you raise PF?

Re: Trop in Atlantic City
I hate it when I limp in with a crap hand and someone raises behind me too. Instead of complaining about it though, I just try not to limp in with crap hands.
That happens at the 7.50/15 tables at the Trop too, and at any table that was passive before I sat in - the people to my right are never happy I sat in. The best thing to do stay friendly with the people near by, make sure they know it is not direct aggression towards them (even if it actually is), and keep raising when you feel it is appropriate.
