i think that it is more likely that he is bluffing now than that he checked behind on the turn w/a set. i also think that given our weak line, the villain makes this play w/much more than AK or better. i will admit that it is probably a marginal call but i don't think it is nearly as out of line as some have suggested.

Ok .. we get it, you think he is bluffing.

tarhelljks,

you said you think he is bluffing w/ a "j, weaker A, or a pp." as far as the first 2 those are winning showdowns such a high % of the time i think it's crazy to think he'd turn it into such a large overbet bluff shove. the third is viable but not many players have the combo capability of calling pf, calling flop, and most importantly turning it into such a large overbet shove on the river. i agree that we look weak but if he's trying to get us off of air he isn't gonna be betting 1.5x pot.

If he's holding Ax he probably thinks he's good and checks. Even a J likely checks behind feeling like he can win, since your line looks like a light 3-bet that has been given up on. And people do frequently make overbet shoves for value.

but do you think an overbet shove is more likely to be a value bet than a bluff (or what amounts to one here)?

I'd bet the turn some because it is a card I almost always double barell on, but against this guy it doesn't really matter so the check is fine. I would bet the river though.

What are you doing if he pots the turn?
