-don't know if you play poker or not but never let "games being good" be an excuse not to go out
-make an effort to get to know the professors that you really like whether that be talking to them after class or going to office hours even if you don't have any questions. -join some kind of organization whether that be club sports, a frat or school or volunteer related group -do work for at least an hour a day preferably on campus in a library before, between or after your classes. it's really not that hard to find just 1 hour a day and most of your friends will be busy doing stuff and you won't have anything to do besides taking a nap, watching tv or playing videogames anyways.

- get a fake id immediately
- make friends with older people, not just the rest of the freshman - go to school for longer than 4 years - don't commit yourself to a major immediately, unless you're certain you want to take that line - skip classes one day before the major breaks (LDO, nothing is important before the break) - and i stress DDY's picture/camcorder thoughts // maybe blog about your time at school, because at some point you'll want to go back and read about the crazy [censored] you got into.

-Look at the Syllabus on first day. If the final is on a Thursday or Friday, drop the class (my last day of college was a Friday final) -Tackle drunk bitches.

If I had to do it all over again I would have gone to a random state school out of HS then prolly hit up somewhere big for grad school. No one stressed to me how fun those early years are though and I was a moron for not thinking about it myself. Either way this thread has made m e feel slightly better about finally going to a real college soon (will be 23.)

But that year was sort of crucial for growing out of that, so it was time well spent. And you being 21, and probably something of a poker-balla, you've probably grown out of that, so you'll be fine.
