Why should she be silenced, because these players can't afford to tip a good dealer?

[/ QUOTE ]

What the hell are you guys talking about?

She should be silenced because she is publicly insulting one of her employer's best clients. Of course she has the First Amendment right to blog about whatever she wants, but I see no reason for Bellagio to put up with this. If I'm published speaking ill of one of my firm's biggest customers, I'm going to get fired.

I am not sure how I feel about this. If telling the world they don't tip is something that would be offensive to them it would appear that they know they are receiving a services they are expected to pay for and choose not to. Personally I find it very distasteful to discuss tokes publically. For a while (maybe ongoing) in some of the big games there was something built into the collection for the dealer because Huck Seed not tipping on a large pot made its way into the local paper.

I think that some people are stating opinions without actually reading the blog entry. Here is the actual text in question:

She tried again, “Does the winner of the match take care of the dealer? That’s how I understood it worked.”

They both ignored her. As she left with Sam she turned to me and said, “I tried.”

I laughed and said, “I know. Thanks.”

How is the above an insult? It seems that it is a rather black and white retelling of something that transpired.

ummm. They aren't high roller, they are poker players. A slot machine makes more money for the casinos than these two playing poker at this table. Unless they are big gamblers at other games. Either way, if they didn't tip the dealer who are they going to complain to? Giver her a $100 chip. cheap bastards

Sammy spreads around a lot of cheese in the Bellagio, not just at the poker table. Its bad for business.

This is just wrong. Players have a right not to tip. Dealers have a right to blog about it. End of story. This idea that casinos somehow are entitled to a code of omerta from non-management employees is neither legally nor ethically justified.

Casinos could care less about right and wrong. Their only concern is stripping the most cash from the suckers at the -ev games. If you bet high enough and aren't an advantage player, you can stand on the table, unzip, and urinate in the chip rack. They'll come over and ask you which gourmet restaurant you'd like to dine at that night. This poker dealers comments could end up costing the casino money in an ever increasingly competetive environment. Although casinos are somewhat protective of their dealers regarding abuse and other circumstances, the bottom line is what ultimately governs a casino's actions.

Dealers have the "right" to blog about it? Sure, from a legal standpoint - and Bellagio has the right to fire them if they don't want their employees insulting their best customers. Nothing ethically wrong about her blog, but it's beyond unprofessional.

tip -- no tip. so what.
Every dealer that deals in THE ROOM at the "B" knows what it is going to be like.
at one time they had a forced tip every down. I am not sure if this is still the practice or not.
Tips are no longer tips it seems like. It is now expected from the dealers.
$100 a down WOW. 10 hour day of play, $2000 a day in tips.
4 days of play, $8000 in tips-- get real
Linda I would guess is pulling in 70 to 80 a year. One down and no tip is not going to send her to the street.

And unless Linda has a contract, Bellagio doesn't need cause to fire anyone, and they will likely not fire her as the blog's been going forever.
