Do you guys really expect somebody who is playing 20/9 to call from the SB with 98 or 87. And why would 87 bet this river now that any 9 is beatting him.

It's hard to tell since betting the turn would have been a better play than checking behind. But lets say this:

Turn action goes: check, bet 3/4ths pot, call.

River is the same 2, and now villian leads 2/3rds pot into you, who's calling here?

Your 'read' is over 50 hands with him at 20/9. So he played 10 hands and probably reached showdown 2 or 3 times. How you can make a big fold based on that is beyond me.

Also assuming he is a solid player, what hands that beat you is he going to slowplay on a board like this? Lots of cards that can come on the turn that either kill his action or scare him.

isn't this a standard call considering villians will lead river after you PFR, CB, check turn w just about anything?

Exactly- Hero has underrepresented his hand. What does hero's hand look like to Villain? Whiffed AK or AQ or any two broadway? Flop cbet didn't take it down and is giving up?

When you under-represent your hand, you have to call lighter. You don't even have that problem here, you have an over pair and 2 pair that just counterfeited other 2 pairs.
