[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Yecch to "filmie." Possibly the gayest word ever [/ QUOTE ] Yeah! This word has a lot more negative conotations than positive as far as I'm concerned. [/ QUOTE ] It seems to have entirely negative connotations, to me. [/ QUOTE ] hey, if you're gonna trash my custom title, do you have to do it on my birthday? sheesh [/ QUOTE ] Heh, didn't realize. Happy birthday, pryor! |

Re: Filmie Question of the Week: Great Watery Movies
I've defended it before and I'll defend it again. Loved Waterworld. Some great photography, Over the top acting, and Jeanne tripplehorn. Jaws drove me crazy with the constant change of sea conditions during a single shot. Not even close. And the 'Deadliest Catch" has my attention lately. That, my friends is serious [censored] water. |

Re: Filmie Question of the Week: Great Watery Movies
[ QUOTE ]
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring A beautiful Korean movie that centers around a temple floating on a lake. [/ QUOTE ] If you enjoyed this, you should definitely check out "The Isle" by the same director, and pretty much 100% set on water. It's much more dark than SSFW&S, but features some equally beautiful moments. My own pick isn't a film per se, but I'm going with 'A dip in the pool', which was one of my favourite episodes from the Roald Dahl 'Tales of the Unexpected' TV series. Don't want to say too much for fear of giving the plot away, but it's a story of gambling gone wrong aboard a cruise ship. Also, Hitchcok's 'Frenzy' deserves a mention too. OK, I know it's not a "water movie", but the ride along the Thames up to Tower Bridge during the opening credits is really beautifully shot, so does enough to justify it's inclusion here I reckon. |
