God damn, I could go for a [censored] Shiner right about now.

[censored], OP, just stick with it. Can't really go wrong. Ummmm... I'm not really sure what to recommend you. I feel like your palate is still vast and open-ended. You have entire families of beer to explore, before you find one that truly suits you.

Maybe check out some hefeweizens. A good place to start might be a Paulaner. Stay away from ones like Pyramid and Widmer Bros. They suck.

OP,

Just spread your choices on your own. Nobody here can tell you what you'll like or not. Just walk into the liquor store and buy 4 six packs of things that look cool, or resemble beers that you already enjoy ie brown ales, lagers, and bocks. Two of the three beers that you've mentioned are fermented by ale yeasts, and the crappy american beer that you hate is fermented with lager yeast although you did mention one lager that you enjoy. I'd just go to the store and pick out a variety of ales from pales/ipa's/browns/bocks/porters/stouts and try them all and see what you think. Once you get done with these you can start exploring the world of lagers, although I think there's not quite the spectrum of change from lager to lager as there is from ale to ale.

Doubt you could import it easily, but the beer with the most market share in Australia is Carlton Draught, and it has the most market share for a reason. It's good. I don't drink anything else.

[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I live about 12 hours away and my friend just brought me back some fat tire on sunday. As for OP Sam Smith nut brown is a really good one. South Shore nut brown is also really good unfortunately it's not available in your area.

Smithwicks Ale. I love Newcastle as well, and this is my second favorite beer.

I was going to recommend this as well. It's been my beer of choice for the past couple months.
