I actually like the hotel deal and have used it a lot.

I am just tryin to find some stories (success or horror) from people how have done it for flights. I can't find one person that has done it.

[/ QUOTE ]

go to biddingfortravel.com and there is an entire forum of people who have used it.

The flight section is a ghost town.

did you look under the headers "Airline Tickets - Domestic US Destinations" and "Airline Tickets - Bidding Related Questions"? there are almost 10,000 total threads under those two sections. they are towards the bottom of the page.

the layout of the website is really bad. perhaps you stopped at the "airline ticket FAQs" at the top of the page .

NicksDad,

Thanks a ton.

bwana,

There are lots of posts, but look at the dates. They are not very frequent. I am sure it would just give me a headache waiting. haha

I bid for airline tickets from Sacto to Vegas. There was a [censored] four hour layover in Orange County.

The gate agent in Sac didn't even realize I was going to Vegas. When I finally got through to her how the flight was structured, she looked at me like I was a total, well, OOTiot.

I've tried Priceline and I love it. I went to Florida from Newark about 4 months ago. Originally, I had a layover in NC for 6 hours but the ticket was $120 roundtrip to Tampa. When I landed in NC, I went to see where the terminal was. The woman looked at my ticket and said I could get on the next flight if I wanted since the plane wasn't booked. I ended up staying in NC for maybe 20 mins. tops. But I only had 1 carry on bag that I kept with me instead of checking in. I don't know if checked luggage would have made it w/ me or on my original flight. But like others have said, you have to be willing to travel messed up hours.

Well we tried bidding on Priceline today and got declined about 27 times. They kept countering at $504 and it was about $570 from the search. They declined bids all the way up to $420 a ticket.

The best price we found was Cheapoair.com it was like $350ish, but we have to stay in Reno an extra day which I don't mind at all and there is a 4 hour layover in DC. We aren't gonna book them til Monday. Hopefully they won't go up.

If I've learned anything about flying, it's don't wait to book airfare for a flight you are positive you will be taking. This could be wrong, but I've never seen a ticket go down in price while waiting.

I had a ticket to NYC picked out last weekend and said, I'll just buy this tomorrow. I forgot about it and did it last night and it cost me $100 more.

About 3 years ago, I was planning on driving to my brother's in Florida. The day I left, he told me to go to the airport since it was on the way and try to buy a ticket for that day to go to Florida. I was able to score an one way ticket for $50. Then I stayed down there and did the same thing on the way back and that ticket was $70. But the key is that you have to be willing to stay or leave early an extra day or 2. But I was off for a month from work so it didn't bother me.

I don't know how the flight bidding works, but with hotels and such, you don't have free rebids or you only have so many rebids. Once your bid isn't accepted, you're locked out for 24 hours before you can place another bid.

If you kept bidding, are you sure you weren't just locked out and they were kicking back no on any bid?
