Re: do all phones have texting?
I'd rather spend a dollar to text back and forth 10 times than actually have to talk on the phone to most people (and I'm 29, FWIW.) *shrug*

Re: do all phones have texting?
Two issues at work here:
1- phones that don't have the technology to text = very few if any exist these days 2- phone plans without texting = exist, but most default plans have like 25 free and then some gross per message rate. |

Re: do all phones have texting?
I know it's hard to believe, but not everyone can afford an iPhone or a Blackberry or whatever. Some people still use a phone they've had for years or a hand me down because it's cheap and it still works. Plus, a ton of people have those prepaid phones that don't have text message capability.

Re: do all phones have texting?
I know people who have texting blocked on their phone. I also know people who wont send a text because it costs them 10 cents or whatever, so maybe the ones that didnt answer just didnt answer cuz they were more interested in a dime than in you

I agree with Assani, but maybe it's a generational thing. Texting as a first means of post-number-getting contact just seems so impossibly gay to me. Could be that this is evolving to the point where it's no longer emasculating but christ, dial the damn number and talk to the chick. |

Re: do all phones have texting?
Almost all phones support it, but a decent # of people actually have it purposely left out of their plan.
I can name at least 5 people I know who can't receive text messages ( and I hate them for it ). |

Re: do all phones have texting?
Carrier specific data options are a joke.
I just switched from Sprint to Cingular over the weekend, mainly because we need the roll-over capibilities. Here is the list of "options" not included with the plan.... Blackberry 4MB $34.99 a month Data Connect 5MB $19.99 a month PDA Connect for BlackBerry Connect Unlimited $44.99 a month BlackBerry Internet Service Plan $29.99 a month SmartPhone Connect (5MB) $9.99 a month SmartPhone Connect Unlimited w/Xpress Mail $19.99 a month PDA Connect Unlimited $39.99 a month BlackBerry Tethered $74.99 a month Data Connect 10MB $24.99 a month Blackberry Unlimited $44.99 a month Data Connect 20MB $34.99 a month PDA Connect for BlackBerry Connect 4MB $34.99 a month Messaging Starter w/Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Messaging $9.99 a month Messaging Starter - 200 Messages $4.99 a month MEdia Basic - 400 Messages & 1MB MEdia Net $9.99 a month MEdia Basic w/Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Messaging $14.99 a month MEdia Works w/Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Messaging $19.99 a month MEdia Works - 1500 Messages & 5 MB MEdia Net $14.99 a month Messaging Unlimited $19.99 a month They have seriously bumped their head if they think that I would pay for any of this crap. Call me when I can do all this stuff Wifi. I don't mind paying a monthly fee for Mobile Internet Access with any Wifi device I happen to own. |
