I raised to 420 and he quickly moved all-in, making it 3k more to me.

What do you think his range is and what would YOUR range be?

[/ QUOTE ]

his range is mostly 1 pair basically saying you need a set to call which is soo little of your range. I can't see folding here since I take out A9 and A4 out of their ranges and shoving with a set on this board is sooo bad.

Wow well of course you must call. Anyway our range is tough to answer because with AQo we probably wouldn't have raised on the flop if we weren't prepared to call an allin. Basically with any ace I'm not prepared to call a 3 bet with on this flop, I'm probably not raising.

snap call, and i like a raies on this flop as well. he's gonna put you on a bluff more than an ace given that it is dry and hu. i wouldn't be surprised to see some decent pair turned into a bluff here actually.

I like raising flop. Call the shove, he isn't playing a set this way on this board, It's usually AJ/AQ/AK.

I agree, our range here is not really important because there are basicly no other hands that we play this way (that aren't bluffs). The only other hand we could play this way is AQ and i think you still might have to call. I think villian has AK or AQ a lot and a set occasionally. You could see a lot of other A-rags and pocket pairs that make this an obvious call

Just to play devil's advocate, and I realize it doesn't say anything about Villain being a THINKING LAG, but what the hell hand can he put gobbo on? He basically raises the flop with the very bottom of his flop-raise range. If Gobbo has air, which is definitely part of his range and perhaps consistent with his flop image, then why would Villain ever shove (unless of course he has worse air). If gobbo is making a normal flop raise, then his range is AK/44/99. I just don't see why UTG would shove AQ- here. It essentially accomplishes zero because gobbo is never raising AJ- on this flop.

I understand that we should only be raising here if we plan to call the 4-bet shove, because one of our reasons to raise is exactly to induce one, but I'm merely pointing out that this hand plays out WAAAAAY differently when UTG is a known thinking player instead of an unknown who's played a bunch of hands recently.
