Re: How do you guys avoid the draw of table games?
you just need to run better.
i once took my remaining buy-in off the table at bally's and "doubled up" at the blackjack table before returning to my seat.... the dealer informed me that this was, in fact, NOT ok like i originally thought it was while completely smashed. |

Draw? Draw? Are you kidding me?!?! Draw?
There is no draw unless you have a gambling problem or the ability (actual ability--not just the belief you do) to beat the game you are playing. |

Re: How do you guys avoid the draw of table games?
I hate to gamble, so staying away from the games is easy. Yes, I hate to play poker as well.
Try going on a marathon session for a few weeks straight, you will hate to gamble too. |

Just think about how you felt the last time the dealer pulled a 6-card 21 on your $400 double down.

By not being drawn to them. I'd sooner chop off my dick with a butter knife than sit at a blackjack table.

Re: How do you guys avoid the draw of table games?
See, for me its the complete opposite. On the way to the poker room, walking through the slot machines room. Seeing all the old people putting their social security checks into a hopeless gamble. The blank expressions on their face, as they sit for hours on end hoping to break even. It makes me feel bad for them.
I feel sick walking through because I know its such a -EV situation to put myself behind a craps game or roulette (or other pit games). Mostly I realize that poker is such a great opportunity in regards to the other games where the house has such an edge. It's never really crossed my mind after I realized this. |

I did. Haven't been tempted by the -EV games since. [/ QUOTE ] Congrats! Personally, I like to sit down with a few friends and play some pai gow or whatever (slower games) and have a few cocktails while we chat and have a good time. To me, the entertainment/drinking value is worth it. I have never, in 11 years, gone nuts with the betting or playing beyond my means. I only do it occasionally (once a month or so) and always have a good time, never get upset (literally), and take care of those whom take care of me. Of course, I don't play poker for a living. When I play, it's strictly for fun because I, for one, suck at this game but still enjoy it immensely |
