As mentioned, Chuck Cunningham is the King of this thread.

The Jeffersons tried to pull a "Darren Stevens" with Lionel. It was horrific.

There are a few on "King of Queens". Carrie has a sister that is never seen or heard from again. Also, Doug's fireman buddy (Richie maybe) was on a lot in the early years if the show but vanished with no explanation in recent seasons.

i don't know if this counts, but the simpsons basically got rid of dr. marvin monroe without explanation - they referenced this in a later episode.

Nice.

How about pulling a Reverse-Darren where when actor plays multiple roles on the same show? The only one I can think of is Harry Morgan having a guest role as an insane general before coming back as Col. Potter on MASH.
