Just as a comparison, my 17" Samsung LCD MONITOR has 1280 x 1024 resolution, and my 20", 1600 x 1200. Resolution is king, size is irrelevant...at least when it comes to monitors.

what ?? i can only play one table? [/ QUOTE ] Correct. A regular table on pretty much any poker site is 800 x 600, give or take a few pixels. Without resizing or overlap, you will only get one table on there. TVs have terrible resolution in comparison to monitors. Your one table will be VERY BIG, though. standard size tables (without resizing them) are 800x600.
To be able to play without overlap you need to have double that in each direction. So if you have 1600x1200 you can fit 4 tables perfectly without any overlap. Your TV/monitor is way less than 1600x1200. You will have lots of overlap vertically and horizontally. The screen is larger than one table of 800x600 obviously. but if you put two standard-size tables on there they will overlap considerably. |

Right. He'll have almost 600 pixels extra horizontally, so 2 tables would have less than 1/3 overlap...not terrible. Only 169 vertically, though...4 tables would have a LOT of overlap.
If you were considering buying this just to multitable poker, DON'T! If it's for multipurposes, well, you'll have to decide. |

You gain 86 pixels horizontally, but lose 256 vertically (almost half a table). It would be slightly better for 2-tabling, but MUCH worse for 4-tabling. |

dude, just go to the dell site or bestbuy or somewhere and look for monitors that are 1600x1200 or better.
Note, a popular wide-screen resolution is 1680x1050 or something like that. Note that 1050 is less than 1200 so you would have a little bit of vertical overlap with one of those. My Dell laptop screen is a 1900x1200. It's just a 17" (I said 19" earlier but that was incorrect). I can fit 4 tables without overlap no problem and I still have room to spare. I have a Dell2001fp monitor which is pretty popular among 2+2'ers. It's 1600x1200 so perfectly fits 4 tables. The 'monitors' that are actually TV's almost never have very good resolution no matter how big they are. You could get a 40" TV/monitor LCD thing and it would probably still be less than 1600x1200 because it's more of a TV than a monitor. |

Samsung 204B is also a 1600 x 1200, and it's being discontinued, from what I understand. I posted about mine a couple of weeks ago, I found it at Circuit City for only $225 (in store, NOT online) as they are making way for the new model.

Geez, for $225 I might have to go pick one up myself. Awesome!! [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I started a thread here about 2 weeks ago, but I think it got locked/moved to Computer Technical Help, so you might have missed it. I was travelling down south and found two of them in a store in Buena Park (next to Anaheim). I already have one, it was tempting to buy both but I'd need a new video card, and I can barely multi-table 4 right now let alone 12, so I just bought one lol. Anyway, there was no display, no price, I had to go up to a cashier to find out how much it was. Apparently there's a new one coming out that will be back up in the mid-$300 range. I don't see any at CC online (all their Samsungs are on sale online, but no sign of the 204B), so you might want to try phoning around to local stores. I may have just been lucky at this one store, but it's worth a try at that price! |
