I'm curious about this as well. It's pretty disturbing that they can get a busy enough "schedule" of people that they have to worry about overlap. That of course leads to your question: how many REAL 14 year old girls are there in chat rooms who actually go through with something like this?

I've wondered about that too - ESPECIALLY now that this to catch a predator stuff is going on, which is pretty well known, and impossible to detect beforehand.

Could be the same as with many other crimes: yes, the success rate is high enough that even with the risk of getting caught, it's +EV for the criminal.

OTOH, even IF the girl is real, that's by no means a guarantee that no one will ever find out. So my answer is people who do this are just incredibly dumb.

It's pretty standard. Most colleges make you take stupid classes before you get to your major. Most of my friends did Bowling as their gym class.
