Back in the days, at my university faculty, they had a deal with a home for mentally challenged but harmless people to let their patients just walk around among the students. This gave the mentally challenged a sense of belonging and purpose, and social training. This being an economic faculty, it didn't take long for us students to name these people "random walks".
