Yes, By-Tor, we get it, you don't care about anything that doesn't directly affect you. Now please, make more ignorant posts like the one I quoted.

[/ QUOTE ]

Even if someone in my family had cancer, it wouldn't blind me to the fact that sending out yellow bracelets to friends still ranked high on the gayness totem pole. Your friend should be de-buddied.

my dad died a year and a half ago from pancreatic cancer. he sometimes wore a livestrong bracelet, but he didn't flaunt it. my brother sometimes wears it still. I don't feel critical of wearing them, but ive never really understood it, though i guess i've never really tried.

[/ QUOTE ]

The thing that's moronic are the different colored off-brand ones that don't support anything.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have a white one that was handed out as a promo for a rave in NYC in 2004 (?) called "Blow"

I still wear it, mostly cause it matches my white sunglasses.

My general impression when I see a yellow bracelet is that someone donated $1 to curing cancer 3 years ago.

The fact that someone has donated at least $1 to charity in the last 3 years is not worth showing outwardly.

If its about showing solidarity and being against cancer, well, I guess but who isn't against cancer?

I dunno, I walked past a group of sorority girls who were collecting money and had a sign that said "Support Children's Cancer".

I've been wearing the bracelet as a reminder of what he's going through.

[/ QUOTE ]

Would you have forgotten what he's going through were it not for the bracelet?

[ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure the bracelets are moronic anymore.

[/ QUOTE ]

I support them, if only because the money is (theoretically)going towards cancer research. Selling cheap bracelets is apparently more effective than asking for donations, I guess.
