The beyonder is a good shout but he got whooped by the Marvelboys in secret wars (where SpiderMan gets his black suit).

Now Galactus is a serious peice of work. from wiki

Galactus is one of the most feared and powerful characters in the Marvel Universe. Existing since the beginning of the current Marvel-616 universe, Galactus has consumed countless planets, resulting in the elimination of entire extra-terrestrial civilizations. The character has become more morally complex in recent decades, coming to embody a force of cosmic nature and proving to be a necessary being for the universe to exist.

Galactus wields the immeasurable Power Cosmic and has been described as "the most powerful creature in the universe."[35]

As such, Galactus is able to employ the limitless cosmic energies within him to produce nearly any effect he desires, including size-alteration,[36] the molecular restructuring and transmutation of matter,[37] the teleportation of objects—even entire galaxies—across space and time,[38] the erection of impenetrable force fields,[39] the creation of interdimensional portals,[40] telepathy,[41] telekinesis,[42] and cosmic awareness on a universal scale.[43]

Ok so I think he would beat up Apocolypse pretty bad. He is pretty much a god. Dark Phoenix is also hardcore and I would say she should be second behind Galactus. Destroying stars is fairly impressive [censored]

As previously mentioned, I don't know how you get much tougher than Super-Saiyan IV Goku -- he gets my vote.

Silver Surfer is no slouch. When you wield the Power Cosmic you aren't going down easy.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I would definitely put Silver Surfer up there too.

Apocalypse kills superman 100% of the time. He can grow to any size he wants, shapechange into anything he wants, is IMMORTAL, and is preposterously strong. Are you forgetting that superman got murdered by Doomsday? Apocalypse could an army of Doomsdays.

Even as a DC fan I accept this.

AJW, great pick!

[ QUOTE ]

You gave one "obvious" and one "underdog" pick. You're not at all discouraged that your favorite was killed for a matter of at least months (can't remember how long)? I mean, I'm assuming that this is a tournament of some sorts. You can't have everyone kill each other off, only to have a formerly dead guy rise from the ashes years later and say, "Hey, look at me! I win!"

[/ QUOTE ]

Superman's death was the direct result of kryptonite (iirc Doomsday's exoskeleton is composed of it). People will also bring up Batman kicking Superman's ass on more than one occasion but this also was directly due to a kryptonite ring Superman gave him in case he ever needed to stop him.

I my mind this takes place not as tournament but as a free-for-all. Therefore the only way I can see Superman not making it into the final throes would be if he came into contact with Doomsday or another form of kryptonite early in the scenario, and even then the outcome would be unpredictable.

Keep in mind I hate Superman. As I mentioned I really only presented him to get it out of the way.

[ QUOTE ]

This has been done before on OOT.

Last time someone made this thread it was locked within a few minutes too.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why?

The Pheonix, Apocolypse and Silver Surfer are great picks and I was hoping all three would come up.

The Pheonix

[ QUOTE ]

The Phoenix's power could tap into the energy provided by life-force reserved for future generations, thus denying them existence. It can wield this energy to project beams of immense concussive force. It can transmigrate throughout time and space by folding its energy back into itself, causing it to collapse akin to a black hole. It then reforms itself upon reaching its destination. It can directly absorb energy such as Cyclops' optic blasts or the entire energy of a sun. It is also capable of absorbing the energy and life-force from a foe. The Phoenix Force can control life and death itself and is the Guardian of Creation. As it is the nexus of all psionic energy, it has mental abilities of cosmic scope, including telepathy and telekinesis, and often seeks out hosts who have strong enough psionic abilities so they will be able to withstand the force's power, such as that of Emma Frost who could not bear the burden of Phoenix when it bonded with her. When the Phoenix Force enters a host, a fragment of its powers is left behind when it leaves. Even a small fragment can be stronger than an unexperienced host using the Phoenix's powers, as seen by Rachel Summers, who had full access to the Force, but her opponent threw moons at her with only a fragment (the Phoenix Force decided to not interfere with mortal beings and only allowed Rachel to tap into the force's powers at that time). When bonded with a host, the Phoenix Force amplifies their abilities to incalculable levels. It can manipulate matter on a sub-atomic level (e.g., turning wood to gold, stone to crystal, etc). It can teleport others across vast distances across space and can also open wormholes to access corners of the Universe. If the Phoenix Force is harmed or killed, it will form an "egg" of cosmic power, incubate in the White Hot Room, and hatch out completely healed.

Apocalypse

[ QUOTE ]

Apocalypse is one of the most powerful mutants in the Marvel Universe. After exposure to the Celestial Ship, all of Apocalypse's powers have been enhanced far beyond their original limits.

* Apocalypse has complete control over his body's atoms in a molecular level, and can alter them at will, in order to shape-shift his physical form; he can change his appearance or the size of his body, mimic metals and armors, allow his body to become extremely malleable, maintain his full dexterity, and elongate his body or limbs. Through his ability to alter his form, Apocalypse can also grant himself any physical superhuman power, therefore making him extremely powerful. Apocalypse also can morph his arms and fists into various melee weapons and give himself flight by turning his arms into wings or jets. Apocalypse can also grant himself potentially almost unlimited superhuman strength and grow to enormous sizes. Apocalypse can also adapt his molecular structure to any adversity, and possesses transmutation abilities, as his descendants have already proven capable of.

* Apocalypse can generate and absorb energy due to a combination of his mutant power and Celestial technology in his body; he can create force fields, project massive energy blasts of destructive force, and can also expel energy violently out of his body. Apocalypse has shown capable of absorbing kinetic energy from his surroundings, and even absorb Cyclops's optic beam, leaving him temporarily empty of energy. He can also augment himself further by drawing on various outside energy sources. Apocalypse can also infuse his body with energy to speed up his reflexes and reaction time in which to move at superhuman speed, allowing him to counteract other with super-speed powers themselves.

* Apocalypse's original body was immortal. Even before being modified by the Celestial ship, he had lived for thousands of years, and was extremely resistant to injury. With the Celestial modifications, this resistance to harm was amplified, making him virtually invulnerable, enabling him to withstand a whisper from Black Bolt with ease. After the destruction of his original body, Apocalypse has been forced to use host bodies of robot-like forms to house his life-energies. Because of this, Apocalypse's power fluctuates, and most of his bodies cannot withstand his energy and abilities. In the alternate future timeline from which Cable hails, Apocalypse's physical form was no longer able to contain his superhuman energies resulting in his original body burning out. Hence, he transferred his consciousness and powers into a succession of host bodies, abandoning each one when it too grew too old to contain his power. This version of Apocalypse was ultimately defeated in transit from a depreciated body into a potential host body.

* Apocalypse possesses the ability to heal himself, and combined with his molecular shape-shifting powers, he can heal from seemly any damage. Apocalypse has been able to easily heal instantly from stab wounds, and once blowed himself, and regenerated from there (He was also severely weakened, almost falling apart while doing this). Should he, however, suffer injuries that prove potentially fatal, he can enter a coma-like state of suspended animation during which he may recover from his wounds with the assistance of his Celestial technology. Apocalypse's techno-organic blood contains many unique properties. With only a drop of his blood into a vat of organs, blood, etc. the virus can rewrite the genetic code of the material within to form a new body for Apocalypse.

* Apocalypse possesses telepathy and telekinesis, and has shown potential to be a powerful psionic. He has shown capable of mind blasting Xavier, as well easily withstand a telekinetic blast from Exodus.

* Apocalypse also has repeatedly shown the ability to teleport himself and other beings (it is unclear if he required amplifying technology to do some of these things).

* Aside from his superhuman powers, Apocalypse is also extraordinarily intelligent, a genius with knowledge of science and technology far beyond that of conventional science and technology. This was not merely a result of his exposure to alien technology, as he was able to make significant new advances beyond the alien materials to which he was exposed. In the X-Cutioner's Song saga (Part X), even Beast needed Apocalypse's peerless expertise in biology to aid Xavier. Apocalypse has also proven to be a master manipulator, able to turn even the greatest of the X-Men to his side and become his horsemen. Apocalypse is also a skilled leader and tactician.

Silver Surfer

[ QUOTE ]

The Silver Surfer wields "the power cosmic", absorbing and manipulating the universe's ambient cosmic energies. He can augment his strength to incalculable levels, and is almost totally indestructible. He can navigate space, hyperspace and dimensional barriers, and can fly at near-limitless speeds on his board, entering hyperspace when he exceeds light speed. He has even proven capable of time travel on occasion. The Surfer does not require food, drink, air or sleep, sustained entirely by converting matter into energy. He is immune to temperature extremes and most radiation, and can survive in vacuum environments such as outer space and hyperspace. He can analyze and manipulate matter and energy, and restructure or animate matter at will, even transmuting elements.

He can heal living beings (though he cannot raise the dead), and has proven capable of revitalizing or evolving organic life on a planet wide scale. He can alter the size of himself or of other matter, cast illusions, fire energy blasts, form and manipulate energy constructs, manipulate gravity, absorb and discharge most forms of energy, and phase through solid matter. His senses enable him to detect objects and energies light years away, and to perceive matter and energy in subatomic detail; he can even see through time, and with concentration can achieve limited perception of past and future events in his general vicinity. The Surfer has demonstrated limited telepathic ability on occasion, and has proven able to influence human emotion and sensation.

[edit] Paraphernalia and weapons

The Surfer's board is composed of the same impervious, cosmic-powered silvery material as its master's skin, and is mentally linked to the Surfer; it moves in response to his thoughts, even when he is not in physical contact with it. The board is almost totally indestructible, but on those rare occasions where it has been damaged or destroyed, the Surfer has been able to repair or even re-create it. The Surfer can attack opponents remotely by directing the board against them, and the board is capable of absorbing and imprisoning other beings, at least temporarily.

In addition, the Surfer and the Fantastic Four realized that Galactus' means of imprisoning the Surfer on Earth was linked to the board since the world devourer knew that his former herald would not think of leaving the planet without it. Putting the idea to the test, the Surfer left the board planetside and the Four transported him off the planet in their spacecraft. Once he realized he was free of Earth, the Surfer remotely converted the board to energy, recalled it to him and reformed it in space.

Mr. Mxyzptlk

[ QUOTE ]
Mr. Mxyzptlk has access to fifth-dimensional technology that to third-dimensional beings may as well be magic. He can perform any feat imaginable. If he wished he could turn Superman into dust by snapping his fingers, it would happen, but he's not actually malevolent like most villains, so he uses his powers doing things that are more annoying than anything else.

Though the exact limits of Mr. Mxyzptlk's powers are unknown, he's notable for being vastly more powerful than cosmic beings; indeed, during the Emperor Joker storyline, Mxyzptlk revealed that he could potentially possess unlimited power, but he never uses it because he would risk destroying reality and have nothing to do the next day.
