Re: NL Hold\'em: level of competition Live vs Online (by stake)
I still think your bankroll should be the main concern for what level you play live. Everyone agrees that live play is softer. Figure out how many buyins you have for each given game and if you can replenish your BR. Then figure out if you are comfortable playing with 5,10,15,30, etc buyins and play that level.

Re: NL Hold\'em: level of competition Live vs Online (by stake)
multiply live stakes by 0.1 to find the equivalent online stakes.
eg, $1/$2 live = 10c/20c online. $5/$10 live = 50c/$1 online |

Re: NL Hold\'em: level of competition Live vs Online (by stake)
I agree with josem. As a 100nl online player, The play at the 500nl tables (lowest they offer here), kind of rreminds me of the 25nl tables at party.
If I had the roll for it, I would probably play there, so as soon as I'm rolled for 600nl live I would probably spend a couple of hours each week in the casino, depending on the amount of rake they charged. |

Re: NL Hold\'em: level of competition Live vs Online (by stake)
The 10x is way off.. if your beating 1/2 NL online that does not mean you are going to beat 10/20 NL live; in fact you'd get murdered!
I would say the level of skill for online to live is: 1/2 NL live = .10/.25 NL online 1/3, 2/2, 1/2/2, or 2/3 NL live = .25/.50 NL online 2/5, 3/5 NL live = .5/1 NL online 5/10 NL live = halfway between 1/2 NL online and 2/4 NL online 10/20 NL live = 5/10 NL online 20/40 NL or 25/50 NL live = 10/20 NL online 50/100 NL live = 25/50 NL online As you can see there's a drastic skill level jump 5/10 and up. 10/20's actually pretty tough live. Even the Commerece 10/20 which is by far the softest 10/20 in the world. |
