This should work if you put a crossover cable between the router and the switch. As an alternative, if the switch has an uplink port, use it with the cable you have now. I'm assuming the cable between the router and switch is currently a straight through cable.

Teddy -

Don't connect the cable to the "Uplink" or "Internet" port on your switch. Just plug it into like Port 4. The cable coming out of the Wireless Router should also just be coming out of a wired port. The only time you should use the "uplink" or "internet" port is when a feed is coming directly out of a modem. It should work fine.
If it doesn't let me know.

This thread is SOOOOOOOOOO sad.

Here is how your topolgy will work. This requires buying a 5 doller hub from somewhre

__________________________________---------> Switch
CABLE MODEM LAN PORT -------> HUB ---------> Wireless Router

Otherwise you will have to configure the ports on the wireless router to accept the switch. This is an easy process if you know what your doing, but since you might have trouble with it and HUBS are like 5 cents just buy a hub and use my topology.

Also make sure your using ALL Cat5 non crossover cable and make sure if the HUB has a push button on it that its out not in.

Bye.

With my setup, I tried to do something similar and then just went out and bought a new router that has wireless in it and I was done. Go buy one of those instead.

Why use a switch at all? Your wireless router should work fine for your wired connections.

I believe the switch is wired into the house. Although if he is only going to be using a few rooms he should be able to just wire those rooms into the wireless router instead.
