I'm pretty sure I posted in this thread, it has just vanished .

Computer is definitely the most addictive thing of all. I can go for endless time without computer if I have something better to do but how often do I have? Pretty much never.

To me it's Computer > Alcohol > Caffeine.
I love to drink but I need to moderate.. you know what happens if you don't

I can't compare across genres like that, but I've seen studies done about which drugs are hardest to quit. Heroine and nicotine are the hardest (H #1 and nicotine #2), and are the only drugs with recidivism rates >90%. Everything else is a distant second.

Smoking. Don't even get started, you'll dream about smoking 20 years later.

Drugs I don't understand. In the 70s we all took speed and it wasn't even addictive and now suddenly it is. What, there is some magical addictive component in brake fluid? Don't think so. They could quit if they wanted to, they'd just rather spend all your money first.

If you have had experience with many, then being at to rate

x > y

would be awesome.

Here are some I was thinking
- Drinking
- Smoking
- Gambling
- Abuse
- Drugs
- Cheating
- Video Games
- Etc

And glue...that is tough.

Toughest Addiction? Food.

Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inedia.
These people really believe food is not required to live.

I heard this great quote from somebody who worked in the rehab wing of a hospital:

If somebody is coming in for heroin withdrawal, they book a bed for three days.

If somebody is coming in for alcohol withdrawal, they book a bed for one week.

If somebody is coming in for Valium withdrawal, they book a bed for three weeks and equip it with restraints.

Cigarettes for sure. I just got my dividend check from MO.

They have been coming quarterly forever.
