This is going to get ugly
Beasley, Walker, Sutton all want out of LOIs
K St AD playing hardball
recruits want to name assistant as the new head coach
many schools contacting the players

this will be a bloodbath if someone wants to cover it close enough

seeing as though it isn't one of the NAME programs and not near a metropolitan area, it probably won't be a big story

it should be

Can someone explain to me why exactly Huggins would do this? I know that hes from WVU. But he has the #1 recruiting class coming in, and he probably knows that this isn't going to make him look good. Why not just stay for a year with this class then leave?

WVU is Huggins' dream school, I really doubt that they're gonna go coachless for a whole year and wait for Huggins to leave in 08.

You are totally right about it not being a big story nationally. I have had espn on almost non-stop all day long and havent heard anything about all that. Please keep us updated. It sounds crazy as hell.

I guess I should have asked this question in my last response, but I didnt wonder this until I actually read the link attached by MT2R.

Aren't recruits almost always given a chance to be released from their LOIs when a head coach that recruited them departs before they arrive on campus? I am guessing that letting them out of their commitment is just a common courtesy and not a requirement of some sort?

Correct,LesJ

IMHO the K-state AD is being an [censored], but you sign a letter of intent to play for the university, not the coach.

I'm sure eventually he will let Beasley and Sutton out.

MT2R, where do you think they end up, if they are let out?

I know Beasley and OJ Mayo are tight. USC?

USC was mentioned as an option in the article linked by MT2R, which would be just absolutely sick. But having all that freshmen talent who plan on having a very short tenure in the college ranks could also be very difficult to manage. I would obviously have the talent at my disposal than not, but just having that talent there would not necc. equate to a great season or deep run in the tournament.

Last year Jason Bennett, who had wanted to go to Cincy before Huggins got fired, was leaning to Auburn going into his senior year. But Huggins convinced him not to sign in the fall and to wait until he got a job somewhere. When Huggins finally did get hired, Bennett announced that he had suddenly narrowed his to KSU and Auburn despite never visiting KSU.

He signed with KSU and his parents moved there to be with him. LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Love this quote from the Wichita Eagle article;

"I'd like to visit the school first, I'd like to see it," he said. "Me and the mountains don't get along."

They were cracking up on ESPN radio last night over the reaction from the KSU AD and President. I believe the president basically said "Nobody will ever love you like KSU did" and other stuff that the ESPN guy correctly noted sounded like just-dumb-bitter-girlfriend talk.

When you hire a scumbag, do not be surprised when he scumbags you. For more info please see Idaho, University of and Erickson, Dennis.
