What's Selig's Value Over Replacement Commissioner the past 5 years? Does PECOTA give him a good longterm projections?

well...why not? baseball is booming right now. what has he really done to make people hate him so much? the steroid problems? that goes back before his time, but he didnt really do anything to stop it, and also made a real effort to fix it recently (first commissioner to propose the ban on amphetamines). the contraction fiasco? meh...i dont really think it would be a bad thing, although the events surrounding the expos situation were shady.

he's done much more good than bad, imo. wild card, division realignment, 15 new stadiums, and got rid of marge schott forever

Things that have happened under his time as commish:

Bad:
The '94 strike
The contraction fiasco (Which put the league's antitrust exemption at risk)
The steroids (now HGH) "era"
The all-star game tie
MLB.TV
DirectTV deal

Good:
Interleague play/division realignment
Wild Card
Recent long extension of the CBA
Large league popularity/revenue growth in the last 3-4 years.

The addition of the WC was a direct response the huge blow back caused by the '94 strike

Interleague play wasn't at all a new idea (had been voted down many times in the past) and along with the division realignment was informally agreed upon by the owners in '93... so he was only a year into his time as acting commissioner (which makes me think he didn't have a lot to do with it).

Selig is also responsible for having one division with 4 teams and one division with 6 teams!

a tie in an exhibition game is really a strike against a commissioner? do you remember who won the 3 all star games before that? i dont know, i just have a hard time caring about the result of all star games, its about watching the game's best.

and, what about mlb.tv is a negative strike against selig?

The all-star game tie was really bush league and Selig came across as incompetent and indifferent to the fans. It didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things but it looked really bad.

The ultimate black mark is the strike, of course.

I'm pretty sure MLB.TV needs to be moved from "bad" to "good".

No, I am implying that it is [censored] stupid to have one division with 6 teams and one division with 4.
