How much more "talented" is kobe than a healthy Vince Carter?

[/ QUOTE ]

A [censored] lot. Kobe can play defense, for starters.

But from a skill perspective, Kobe has MJ beat.

[/ QUOTE ]

How are we defining skill is the real question? Is an And One guy more "skilled" than Jordan because he can do some crazy trick things with the ball?

[/ QUOTE ]
Most And1 guys aren't that skilled. A few of them have some crazy ballhandling skills, but even then, they carry the ball. Put them in a regulation game against NBA players, and you'll see their lack of skills. See Rafer Alston, godfather of streetball, as case in point.

[ QUOTE ]
Kobe is a great player no doubt, but I think Jordan played at the pinnacle of the NBA in terms of level of competition. It's Jordan, and right now it isn't really that close.

[/ QUOTE ]
The NBA is tougher today than 10 years ago, which was tougher then 10 years before that. The separation between Jordan and his peers is wider than Kobe from his peers. However, Kobe is near Jordan's equal.

Do you really think that's a "talent" issue?

i think it is, talent can't just be considered on the offensive or defensive side alone...what would u say about defensive specialists then?? imo, defense plays a big role in talent...

Uh, talent is your innate ability. Just because he's not a good defender doesn't mean he doesn't have the innate talent to be one.

I dunno. But that seems to be the argument going on above with regard to Kobe & MJ. Skill vs talent.
