Yeah it was nice that he fulfilled my childhood vision of him. I loved Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Comic, and everything else I saw him in.

Stars have actually surprised me often.

No, no, I just used to clerk at a bookstore he would drop by every once in a while. No way he'd remember me. I've met him a few times long ago, but couldn't say I know him. He just always was really cool with everybody in the store, didn't put up one of those snotty or self-absorbed or fearful walls lots of celebs do. Just a sincerely really nice guy.

I always felt bad such a fun, talented guy had his career crash so hard and became an alcoholic, so I was happy to see him get a second life as an actor on t.v. a few years later and come out of at least those public problems. Some actors get kind of bitter over time, but it was cool that he didn't even though his life must have been stressful, and maybe confusing and a good bit disappointing at times.
