I don't like the turn check either. I'm betting this 99% of the time for value. Villain potential holdings can be an Ace with a weaker heart kicker.

But if villain has been making lots of plays at hero, doesn't betting the turn just put hero in a terrible situation if villain c/r....now hero has to make awful decision....is he making another play at me, or does he have the goods this time?

checking the turn is ugly

[/ QUOTE ]

Why is checking the turn ugly?

Checking controls the size of the pot on a very draw heavy board, and does not allow villain to blow us off our hand with a c/r.

can you explain why?

are you saying it is easy to fold or call if he c/r the turn?

often, i feel like these decisions become even more agonizing when i have folded a few hands, and someone keeps making plays at the pot. seems like i'll finalyy decide to look him up and he has the goods.

So what would your bet sizing be? $200 hundred on the turn so that villain knows that we're committing ourselves on the turn? Or about a half pot bet, so villain may think that he has some fold equity, and then insta call the shove if he does come over

On the turn you have $311 left and there is 276 in the pot, I just stick it in, I don't see what's the point of any other bet. I don't see him ever having a set given the action, he could easily have a worse A, and if he's made it this far with it he's probably not folding to a shove.
