Re: Ever actually finish in first place at anything?
Each year we had a competition called business olympics at our HS, usually having about 25-30 teams of 4-5 in it. I got first my senior year and beat a team that did their project through one of their fathers marketing firms. We laugh to this day about him bitching to the judges that he lost, I mean, hes a professional marketer.

Re: Ever actually finish in first place at anything?
Luis Gallo- That joke is so played out.
OP- Most of what I have been in has been team sports; baseball & basketball. I have finished first a few times in those but does that count? I won a poetry contest in HS but that made me feel gay at the time, today I would have thought it was cooler. I can't think of anything else, most of my competitive stuff has been team oriented. |

Re: Ever actually finish in first place at anything?
I won a local junior golf tournament when I was 17 and also won my local men's league golf tournament a few years ago. That's about it, but at least it's something.

Re: Ever actually finish in first place at anything?
[ QUOTE ]
Lots on times in the Discus, my event on the Track team in High School. But the proudest first place was this one particular track meet where the coach approached me to run the first leg of the 880 relay because we had guys out that day. I was 6' 3" 230ish. I didn't want to do it as I had never competed in a running event before. Plus I had sneakers on and didn't know how to use starting blocks. The coach who was also my head football coach told me to just get down in a 3 point football stance and try and keep it close as we had a very good anchor. Well when this huge guy(huge by 1967 standards anyway) got down into the 3 point stance with the Celtics type black sneakers there were more than a few snickers. Until I won my leg, man that was fun. [/ QUOTE ] Why were you using starting blocks for the 800 relay? Nowadays 99% of people just start standing in events 800+ |

Won a no-tap doubles bowling tournament in 2002. Entered at the last minute after sitting at the bar for an afternoon and decided it was a good idea.
Bowled 838, partner threw 800. Won $1200. 950 teams entered. |

[/ QUOTE ] THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT THE REALLY OBVIOUS JOKE MADE BY OP. I won a couple mathalons in elementary school, and spelling bees. Did win one 3200 race in high school, but that was because all the people faster than me were sitting out. |
