Interesting question. I once saw a statistic that said in 40% of domestic abuse situations, the woman hit first. Don't know how accurate that is. But I saw this happen in front of my apt building. The woman was hitting and kicking the guy and he never put a finger on her. Just incredible self control. But if he'd hit back, he'd have been the one in jail and I would have testified for him.
