What is going on in Miami?

Miami is blowing up. Right now there are 22 skyscrapers over 500 feet under construction. No other city in the US has this level of development. Anyone in Miami or anywhere else know why Miami is going through this level change? To put it perspective, Miami only has 10 buildings over 500 feet right now.
