Re: Longest Time You Have Gone Without Sleepage and Why...
47 hours. Streak ended when I feel asleep during one of my classes. I woke up to the janitor poking me in the ribs with the handle of his broom.

Re: Longest Time You Have Gone Without Sleepage and Why...
80 hours, in the worst pain of my life. Morphine wasn't working. Neither were other drugs and various drug cocktails. Doctors were confused. I was insane. Slept for 4 full days afterwards with bedpan and urinal bottle breaks every once in a while. You haven't lived until you've dumped in a pan man.

Re: Longest Time You Have Gone Without Sleepage and Why...
I've done 2 nights in a row writing a paper in college. That was probably the only time I did 35-40 hours awake.
Many other times at a casino doing 25 hour marathons. It's kinda depressing when you see dealers leave to go home and then later see them come back to work after they've showered, ate, etc. Meanwhile, you haven't moved from your seat except to go pee. |

probably 48 hours, possibly an hour or two more.
I've had wayyy too many 24+ hour days, and my sleep schedule still swings back and forth from nights to days. I have a problem. |

Re: Longest Time You Have Gone Without Sleepage and Why...
Birth of my son, can't remember how long exactly. Let's count together, shall we?
Early labor pains started in the evening, but they don't want you to go to the hospital right away. So we stayed home. Didn't know it at the time, but mom had a bladder infection, so with every contraction she had a little pee-pee accident. Since we were stocked up on cloth diapers ('cuz we're tree huggers), she got to break in the boy's cloth diaps before he made an appearance. This went on for 24 hours, with me playing nurse-maid at home. Finally at around 5 PM the next evening, her contractions were close enough together to go to the hospital (her water never did break). She was in the hospital all night with regular contractions but never got past 8 centimeters. Her doc comes in the next AM, around 7 and orders an emergency c-section. Operation goes well. The boy is born. Mom is fine. We're up all day in the hospital, greeting friends, family and well wishers. I'm still on bad coffee and adrenaline. Things wind down during the evening (the baby slept most all day, while everyone was visiting). So we watch some TV to wind down. Try to sleep in the hospital room with mom and baby, but the baby is up now, crying, and the damn nurses keep coming in to check on mom, waking me and the baby up all the time. I give up on trying to stay in the hospital with everyone and head home around 2 AM. Still wound up, I hit the sack around 4 AM. So that's 5 PM - 5 PM up at home (24), plus another 15 hours in labor at the hospital (39). Add 12 hours for surgery/recovery and all day visitors (51), brings us to 8 PM. Then trying to relax but can't for 6 hours (57) - 2 AM. Went home, relax and sleep by around 4 AM (59). So 59 hours, give or take, with nothing but bad hospital coffee. The kid is 18 months old and I'm still tired. |

Re: Longest Time You Have Gone Without Sleepage and Why...
Around 40 hrs, I guess.
Left out for Lancaster, Mass around 7 pm from Grand Rapids, Mi. Probably had been up since 9 or 10 am. Made delivery around 2 pm after driving straight through. (900 or so miles.) Then hit the road to Niagara Falls with a stop in Buffalo for some new clothes. Got a room, some beer and headed for the casino. Dumped a couple hundred at blackjack and walked around for a while. Retired around 2 am, IIRC. Did similiar round-trip marathons from GR to Atlanta that summer, too. Good $$$ but very gay. Not recommended. |

Re: Longest Time You Have Gone Without Sleepage and Why...
Somewhere around 50-60 hours. Ive done this twice.
First time at Turningstone, fueled by endless redbulls. Second time I was on a 24-hour adderall binge, followed by an all night coke fest. The next morning was one of the worst mornings ever. |

Re: Longest Time You Have Gone Without Sleepage and Why...
2 all nighters in a row to finish up my Senior Design project. I did a ton of meticulous soldering to put together our circuit. You're supposed to use special tools for soldering stuff like processors, but I pulled it off with just a normal soldering iron and patience. I think I did that the first night and a bunch of writing the next. I may have sneaked in a 10 minute pass out the second morning before I had to hand stuff in. I think I went to bed around 6 or 7 pm the final day and I slept for 16 hours.
So somewhere in the mid-high 50s. |

Re: Longest Time You Have Gone Without Sleepage and Why...
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Four days in a row. Handed in final project with a week and a half to spare, after staying out of class and doing it on my own, which the professor had encouraged. When I handed it in, he was pissed I had taken him at his word, and made me trash it. Took massive amounts of work to redo. Lost 30 pounds in 10 days. [/ QUOTE ] Could you clarify why exactly the prof was pissed?? Dont follow. [/ QUOTE ] It was a film class. We were supposed to make a movie. Our first couple days in class, he told us we were wasting our time when we should be just out making a movie instead of hanging around his classroom. So I took him at his word. When I handed the completed movie in, he said he was hurt that I didn't come to class more. Then he watched the movie, which was made to be purely visual/filmic and without sound, and insisted I put some dialogue in it somewhere. Well, from the ground up it was written and designed without sound. Putting dialogue in would have made it easier, actually, but less sleek and inventive. He came up with a half-assed criticism more out of spite for feeling left out. I got a total of 10 hours of sleep over the next 10 days to butcher my film on pain of being flunked. When I finished, it was much worse. But he was happy he had been paid tribute to by having his "input." |
