Re: The Sopranos
The primary reason TV shows turn to movies (other than money obviously) is because it allows them a broader canvass to do things they cant do on TV. There is nothing a sopranos movie could do that they couldn't do on HBO. It would essentially be a double episode that would serve as nothing but a cash grab. I don't see how that would please anyone but the dumbest of fans.

Re: The Sopranos
I always thought it'd be nice for the family members to be written into a situation where they absolutely cannot ignore the reality of Tony's lifestyle. Carmella is morally culpable as she knows the blood that's on the money, yet she cannot get away from the lifestyle, and i'd be nice to have some retribution for that. maybe her losing all the money, and being forced to work in a kitchen and live in a ratty apartment, or something.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Anyway A.J. doesn't die this season? [/ QUOTE ] IMO everyone is on the block. carmella would make a great episode. if I had to pick one major guy I'd pick Multisanti. [/ QUOTE ] How about getting an OOT Sopranos death pool going? [/ QUOTE ] i think that would be awesome but we'd need some kind of market/contract system. it's too easy to pick someone like chris even though carmella or tony is much more fun/rewarding. but you'd need odds. probably too complicated? [/ QUOTE ] Good point. I'm not SMRT enough to figure out the best system. Anyone care to give it a go? Maybe in addition to odds there could be things like 'first to die' and tiebreakers for how they die. Again - too complimicated? |

GS - spot on. You know that Tony is a bad person. You know that he doesn't treat the people that are close to him like he should. You know that he deserves jail or death - but you can't stop rooting for him. Tony in jail would be the perfect ending to the show. I hadn't heard about the possibility of a movie, but I think that if Chase compromises the end of the series for the possibility of a movie that would be pretty weak. [/ QUOTE ] I guess that's why I was never a huge fan of the show because the characters are all so dislikeable. They have no admirable qualities. I guess that also exaplains why my ideal ending would involve multiple machine guns. |

Re: The Sopranos
Interesting thread speculating about how the show will end. I've glanced through it and it is spoiler-free.

Re: The Sopranos
Because I am Dids, I'm obligated to point out that Wire >>> Sopranos (which is very good, but if you're tossing around "best ever" I'm going to be nitty).

Re: The Sopranos
From all interviews, it sounds like Gandolfini is extremely tired of Tony Soprano(he says he thought the show should of been over a couple seasons ago in the latest Vanity Fair), so I doubt a Sopranos movie comes out anytime soon.
I used to think The Sopranos was the best show in television history until I saw The Wire(and when I saw the most recent season of The Sopranos, which I was not feelin'). DN |

Re: The Sopranos
