at 14% pfr, his pf range is approx: 22+,ATs+,KTs+,QTs+,JTs,ATo+,KJo+.

[/ QUOTE ]

Except he also called a 3bet, so his range when he gets to the flop is significantly tighter than this (I'd guess something like 88+,AK isn't unreasonable, maybe AQs or KQs).

[ QUOTE ]
his postflop calling range is therefore around: TT+,88,55,AKs,KTs+,AKo,KJo+.

[/ QUOTE ]
Compare this to the range of hands that calls a 3bet for 1/3 of his stack preflop. The rest of this analysis is flawed if you don't taken into account what range Villain gets to the flop with. Also, your equity vs. the hand range that calls your push has got to be less than 24%.

Which is one of the reasons I really hate 3betting AQ vs. a short opponent when we'll be OOP on the flop. Either (1) he pushes preflop, and we're compelled to call getting 2:1 but we're definitely behind his range, (2) he calls and 2/3 of the time we're OOP with a PSB left knowing that we're committed to calling if we make any CB, or (3) he folds his weaker holdings that could have paid off.

-----

I know we don't know Hero's holding, but if I'm 3betting preflop here vs. a Villain with this stack size it's with a hand that I don't mind getting it in with on any flop -- JJ+,AK is my 3betting range here.

You can't really say 'obvious shove' or 'obvious fold' without knowing his 3 bet calling range *and* his flop calling range. If this guy is going to call a shove with 77 on a flop like this, and his PF range after he calls is say AQ+/any pair, you can check/fold black AQ fairly easily. If he was a generic bad shortstack, you'd obv shove.

also, sometimes they fold like 2/3 of what they open with on the button, which makes this ok to do with almost any two (that totally whiffed).

Lots of short stacks will call you with a worse hand (than AQ), here.

[ QUOTE ]
I'd like to know if there are starting hands you think this is OK with

[/ QUOTE ]
I only like this if your PFRR was a bluff, and you have no apparent outs.

I had AT this time...

AQ is an infinitely easier shove here imo

So what category is this under then - bad, standard, meh?

I shove 100% of my holdings on the flop here.

I would never be in this situation w/ these stacks w/ AT though.

On a K high board? No. Wait, where did utg come from.

Edit:...seriously? No one noticed this? This changes the hand dramatically.
