Why AREN'T You Vegetarian?

Because trying to eat low-carbish with no meat is very very hard. I wouldn't have a problem with it if animals were always raised in humane conditions and put to death with no pain or fear. But I know that's rarely the case. Although I do try to buy free range whenever possible - I just don't shop much.

So I view it as kind of a necessary evil that I feel not great about. But not as bad as I feel about the fact that I throw out more food in a day than some people get to eat in a week. Or any of the other indulgences we get to fuss over as Americans, while people are literally living in hell in other parts of the world.

I think you have to pick your battles. When all the major human injustices in the world have been righted, I'll worry about the cows.

I was a vego for three years. Due to the high amount of roughage in my diet, combined with a few other factors, I developed ulcerative colitus, which wasn't fun. So back to meat.

I also wish to add that while I was a vego I was a pain in the butt due to my dietry needs being imposed on others. I was in fact a boring shitless bastard. I am full of gratitude that my good friends stuck with me during my three year stay in the dark side.
