I really loved this game, but I resented that certain character builds stopped being feasible after a certain point. For example, I really liked the barb leap attack, but it's totally unfeasibly later on. Goddamn blizzard for ruining my dreams of having a kermit barb! My barb would wear all green items (like leviathan armor) and leap attack lots

The most fun I ever had with a build was probably my telemancer (necro with hella summons plus teleport staff= infinite fun)

I think I got up to a level 90 or so necro in hardcore mode. I died because of a server freeze. INSTANT life tilt.

Softcore. I disliked the finality of hardcore.

I had a HC character that lasted into the lower 50's. My monitor froze on me, which allowed my character to get killed.

Blood runs ruined the game? I didn't think they were so bad. I remember Pindleskin runs, and Pindlebots, doing a lot more to wreck the economy.

Also, I didn't like the fact that hardcore characters could only play with other hardcore characters.

The difference, and why I didn't play hardcore: In real money poker, you can't hit a wave of lag and lose your entire bankroll without having put any money in the pot.

Hardcore for life. I died a little inside when my 92lvl sorceress died and my best stuff with her.

In real money poker, someone can't send a packet to the poker client that causes the software to crash, then take all your chips as you try to log back in.

Softcore, for reasons above. Trying to play hardcore with friends is the most painful experience.
