Larry Bird wouldn't start for any team nowadays. I hate it when people refuse to aknowledge that professional sports, basketball in particular, are waaaaay harder than they were even 15 years ago.

[/ QUOTE ]

Dude, you must not have caught Bird's 60 point game versus the Hawks on ESPN Classic today.

The NBA is much harder now than 15 years ago, but Larry Bird would certainly be a starter.

I didn't know that you were supposed to turn glasses upside down when you put them in the dishwasher. I think I was 16 or so when my younger brother (13 at the time) yelled at me for being an idiot. I'm definitely one of those "very intelligent but with absolutely no common sense" people.

This is so silly I have to assume you are kidding. Jordan was killing guys at 40 years old. Bird would be a better version of Dirk. Silly.

Last week I had to stop my girlfriend from putting a steel plate in the microwave.

My friends mum found a big ass bar of resin in his pocket when she was washing his jeans. Later on when she asked what it was he said it was guitar wax.....

I've met numerous people who didn't know who Pablo Picasso is. This amazed me, similar to your Bob Dylan reference.

In college, my gf's roommate, who was an electrical engineering major, microwaved a potato wrapped in aluminum foil.

Was in Alaska for spring break.

Our snowmobile guide was quite insistent that Mt Mckinley(previously Mt Denali) is the 2nd highest in the world. This was confirmed by maybe 6 other people in the snowmobile hangout where we ate lunch. Only one or two other people agreed with me.

I decided its what Alaskans tell themselves to boost their ego.

Ive read far far more literature then most on mountains and outdoor adventure but this just seems so absurd that people could believe this.

He was aware how tall Mckinley is and about how tall Everest is. ~20k ft and ~29k ft respectivly and just couldnt be conviced that there were at least a few in between.

For those that dont know the second highest is K2.

Not sure where Mckinley actually falls but it doesnt even touch the top 100 by ~3000 ft.

[/ QUOTE ]

mnt, I'm pretty sure McKinley is upper 20's isn't it? I know there are other mountains taller than it aside from Everest though. I remember looking around the 3d version of Google earth and seeing mountains adjacent to Everest that were very tall.

[/ QUOTE ]

how can you post this when you're sitting at a computer. just google it.

mt. mckinley - Elevation: 20,320 FT (6,194 M)

ten tallest mountains:

1
Mount Everest
8,850m 29,035 ft Nepal
2
Qogir (K2) 8,611m 28,250 ft Pakistan
3
Kangchenjunga 8,586m 28,169 ft Nepal
4
Lhotse 8,501m 27,920 ft Nepal
5
Makalu I 8,462m 27,765 ft Nepal
6
Cho Oyu 8,201m 26,906 ft Nepal
7
Dhaulagiri 8,167m 26,794 ft Nepal
8
Manaslu I 8,156m 26,758 ft Nepal
9
Nanga Parbat 8,125m 26,658 ft Pakistan
10
Annapurna I 8,091m 26,545 ft Nepal

interestingly, mckinley is the third most prominent peak in the world. prominence is a topographic term which is used to define the "relative" or "autonomous" height of a peak. perhaps this is what they were talking about?

Off topic, and not a perfect example. a girl at work got bit by a cockatoo. When she went to the hospital the nurse treating her asked if the bird was up to date on it's rabies shots.

(understandable for most of the population, but a trained nurse?)
