Wow, this went in a different direction that I expected. Sure, he's got a right to believe homosexuality is immoral, and of course he's got a right to say it. But does anyone else appreciate the irony of the PENTAGON questioning somebody's morality?
Pentagon morality priority list: 1. Sexual orientation. Somewhere below that: killing people, indefinitely jailing people without trials, the Bill of Rights, etc etc etc. People in enormous glass military buildings shouldn't throw stones. |

[ QUOTE ] Link to the PC Police official website? [/ QUOTE ] It's more of a coalition than a single organization... http://www.aclu.org/ http://www.rainbowpush.org/ http://www.glaad.org/ http://www.naacp.org/ http://www.moveon.org/ http://www.now.org/ [/ QUOTE ] So, since you cited the ACLU first, I assume they're the de facto Captains of the PC Police. What free speech limitations does the ACLU advocate for? |

If I'm a public school teacher and feel like wearing my crucifix to class one day the ACLU will come support my right to freedom of expression? Sweet.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT: media@aclu.org DENVER - In a lawsuit filed today, the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado charged that a Denver police officer's "recklessly sloppy" police work - which included false statements and crucial omissions in an affidavit the officer submitted to a judge - caused a local woman with no criminal record to be falsely arrested and jailed for an incident with which she had no connection whatsoever. http://www.aclu.org/police/gen/28358prs20070212.html Why does the right attack them again? |

I hope he's also going to prosecute heterosexual anal sex, clearly immoral. Then after that we'll work on cursing, sex outside of marriage, drinking to excess, and killing - other things the Bible says you should not do.

[/ QUOTE ] Wait; so when the ACLU fails to come defend you, that's a limitation of your free speech rights? Why would you want their help anyway? They're part of the PC Police, right? Strange that you would bemoan their lack of action. I thought they were out there (as apparent Captains of the PC Police), patrolling the country, trying to ban the use of words like illegal alien and islamofascist? Am I to understand that (gasp!) this narrative is an exaggeration!?!? |

I think it was pretty darn obvious I meant not only would they not defend such a person, they would go out of their way to attack such a person's right to wear the jewelry of their choice.
That's where the PC police part comes in. Freedom of expression... (as long as that expression is cool with our belief system) |

APOLOGIZE FOR WHAT? OFFENDING SOMEONE? [/ QUOTE ] I think the bigger concern is that a person in a position of power who gets to make influential decisions about the course of peoples' lives and careers is broadcasting that there is a group of people he doesn't like and that he is willing to select against them without reference to their applicable skills. "Kid, we don't like your kind." When a supervisor in any industry makes a statement like that and "your kind" doesn't mean "you people that aren't good at the job", then that supervisor should be called out. |

You sarcastically implied the ACLU wouldn't come support you in an attempt to demonstrate how they're disrespectful of free speech. So no, it wasn't at all obvious. More dastardly work of the PC police on display here, too? http://www.aclu.org/religion/schools...s20061212.html ACLU of New Jersey Applauds Ruling in Favor of Student's Right to Sing "Awesome God" (12/12/2006) FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: media@aclu.org Ruling is a Victory for Religious Expression Rights, ACLU Says NEWARK, NJ - The American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey today praised a decision by U.S. District Court Judge Freda L. Wolfson protecting the religious expression rights of students. The court held that a Frenchtown Elementary School student had the right to sing the song "Awesome God" at a school talent show. The ACLU of New Jersey submitted a friend-of-the-court brief in support of the student. |

I specifically said teacher for a reason. Last time I checked teachers are U.S. citizens and have First Amendment rights as well.
Next I suppose you'll trot out their token defense of the KKK in some instances? Are you actually trying to argue that the ACLU is some sort of completely politically neutral and completely unbiased "rights" organization? That's the position you wanna go with? |
