I used Winamp for at least 5 years. A couple months ago I went looking for something with easier playlisting and general catalog management. I tried iTunes and I haven't looked back. If someone has used both extensively and prefers playlist functionality in Winamp, please enlighten me. It may be that I'm doing something wrong.

As for dupe-ing songs to your playlists, there's a "find duplicate songs" command for iTunes. Pretty useful, as is the "date added" field. If I have new music and I'm not sure if I've added it to my playlists, I'll sort the playlist to see the date of the most recent additions, then sort my whole library by date added and I quickly see where I've left off.

My computer is fairly new and it uses noticably more resources than Winamp IMO (just speculation).

I use Music Match Jukebox.

It seems to work pretty well for what I need to do, which is basically organize and tag downloaded MP3's with artist, album, etc., and then move them to my MP3 player.

I don't know how many resources it takes on my computer, but it does the trick.
