Re: 2 very basic Stud 8 3rd st ?\'s--
QQ is probably a fold if there's an Ace behind you and the game is loose. I'll play T53 suited for one bet or less as long as no more than one of my suit is out.
I know the pokerfox.net folks. Perhaps I should withhold comment. |

Re: 2 very basic Stud 8 3rd st ?\'s--
both hands are pretty marginal... for me the decidin factor is how aggro the table is. in particular with QxQ if the ace is good/aggresive, it's a clear fold... too much guess work. if a ton of low cards are behind i'd also fold the queens; dun wanna play a crappy hand that's likely to get freerolled later on.
T53s i like a whole lot more, provided my suit is live and one of the low cards is up. obviously table conditions still apply. also the better my low cards relative to the other low cards on board (esp my door card), the more i like the hand; and (less importantly) the higher my high card the better... ie i'd play K34s, but 982s i'd not like much if there are strong low cards on board cos then ur effectively 2 cards behind on the low side if u get played with. with these hands, i'd like to get in for just the bring-in and make a hand cheap unless i'm raisin first in to steal the blinds, or i have the high card up and it's the highest card on board eg 53Ks against mostly 9-Q on board. u can scoop sm giant pots with this hand if u make it esp if ur up against smthg like 34567; a bit of extra incentive to play it. btw, QQ is a fine hand as long as it's likely to be the best hand and u think u can get the pot shorthanded or headsup, which smtimes happens in tight to typical games or when against a bunch of crap doorcards. |

I ve been watching training videos and I saw soemone limp in a somewhat loose game ,2nd position with xQQ ( q showing) with an ace behind him. Is that standard for everyone? Also 3 suited cards with 2 lo cards, 10-5-3 suited all pretty live ive seen play also in early position. Id muck in both spots but maybe im playing 2 tight. [/ QUOTE ] Coming back with info. PT, about 40 000 hands -all pocket queens have +EV. |

good follow-up, just because a hand if +EV doesnt mean it is +EV in all occasions.

Re: 2 very basic Stud 8 3rd st ?\'s--
I meant what is your VPIP with QQ - I thought if you knew you were making a profit with this hand, you would be using a hand category in PT, which would also give you the VPIP?
My point was that if you only play split queens something like 25% of the time, and show an overall profit with it, we shouldn't conclude from that that you should play it all the time. |
