Since I had just emailed everyone with the rule that a player could show his cards without the hand being dead and that there would be no penalty, and since we had discussed the rule and the controversy before the game, and finally, since the first player even asked before showing his cards if the newly-explained rule was in effect, there really shouldn't have been any confusion on the part of the second player.

I said that the hand was still live, and so the first player could fold, call, or raise, based on what he saw from the second player. In short, the second player was either drunk or stupid, but either way, it was his fault for sharing his cards with the player who had shown his cards and was still deciding how to act.

Turned out player one had TPTK and the second player had two-pair, so the first player folded...
